NORTHSIDE Corgi Gas Registration
Gas Safety (installation and use) Regulation 1988
Gas Safety (installation and use) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2004
Gas Safety (installation and use) Regulations 1994 as amended and applied to the Isle of Man
The specific regulation within the GSIUR'S covering 'Registration' is Regulation 3 Qualification and Supervision.
Key extracts from the HSC Approved Code of Practice and guidance state that:
All gas installation businesses, including self employed persons, are required to be in membership of a "class of persons" approved by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
The only body with such approval is CORGI. Their address is 1 Elmwood, Chineham Park, Crockford Lane, Basingstoke, Hants RG248WG (Telephone 08704012200)
Note: Although the Health and Safety Executive Northern Ireland (HSENI) and Health and Safety Work Inspectorate Isle of Man (HSWI) have not published a specific AcoP for the regulations in their area of authority, the above requirements still apply.
Applicants from gas installer businesses need to be competent in order to carry out gas work they intend to undertake before they can become CORGI registered. Gas operatives are required to demonstrate gas safety competence by successfully completing nationally agreed assessments, carried out at an approved assessment centre, CORGI Consumer
